Plean Pericleas, or Peri as we call him around here, is a South African stallion bred from an American imported stallion Glencoe Gallagher. Peri has won various awards for his fantastic conformation including "Horse of the Year", one of South Africa's biggest shows. Peri stands at 17.1hh, not the tallest kid on the block, but he is perfectly in proportion. He is also the most kindhearted horse around, he is very relaxed and handles kids with extreme care! Kids love Peri and Peri loves kids! His best friend is a Clyde X Norwegian Fjord gelding. Though born and raised in South Africa, Peri and his best friend Bailie made the move with us to Canada. Peri covered two mares in his first summer here in Canada, unfortunately one didn't take, but the other, Donegal Nannette, is due in June 2015. He's so looking forward to being a dad.....Again. Unfortunately while living in South Africa, Peri didn't get to breed with many mares due to close relations with most of them, the gene pool is really small and creates huge limitations. The good news is that Peri passes down all of his good conformation and traits. For example, his very first son, Nickweb Antonio, started breeding when he was a mere 15 months old(not intentionally), he currently resides at Kingcross Clydesdale Stud in South Africa and this is what they have to say about him:
"Antonio is a sporty yet powerful Clydesdale stallion. He has a great deal of presence under saddle and carries himself with pride. Antonio has produced impressive foals with our clydesdale mares, and added bone and temperament to our sports horse breeding program.
Antonio is our foundation stallion."
Peri is sire to 6 offspring in South Africa
